WELCOME!
In 2001 I was Webmaster of the official, and recently resurrected whoopi.com web site. ACME Whoopi is my personal, unofficial tribute to Caryn Elaine Johnson, better known to millions as Whoopi Goldberg! A multi-talented performer and celebrity, Whoopi's career spans film, stage, television, comedy, producing, hosting and writing.
Whoopi in a new horror short, Stream

Whoopi exploded into the public light with her Academy Award nominated appearance in Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple. Since then, she has appeared in more than forty films, including Jumpin' Jack Flash, Ghost, The Player, Sister Act (I & II), Star Trek: Generations, The Lion King, Boys on the Side, Ghosts of Mississippi and most recently If I Had Known I Was a Genius. With Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, she co-created Comic Relief, to raise money for the homeless, and has appeared in all seven annual shows. She took her one-woman show to Broadway, HBO-TV, Carnegie Hall, across America and back to Broadway in 2004-05. She had her own syndicated talk show; a NBC-TV situation comedy, Whoopi; she played Ten Forward's bartender Guinan for five seasons (and two feature films) on Star Trek: The Next Generation and she has hosted the Academy Awards four times. She has won an Oscar, a Grammy, a Tony, two Emmys, two Golden Globes, a BAFTA Award and the prestigious Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

In February 1995, Whoopi's childhood fantasy became a reality when she placed prints of her hands, feet and braids in cement in the forecourt of Mann's Chinese Theatre. Then, on her 46th birthday, November 13, 2001, she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, near the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Highland Avenue, in front of the Kodak Theatre.

On August 1, 2007, Whoopi Goldberg was named as the newest host and moderator of The View by Executive Producer Barbara Walters, bringing the program instant controversy and a touch of sanity.

Whoopi has joined Liz Smith, Marlo Thomas, Lily Tomlin, Lesley Stahl, Candice Bergen and others to form wowOwow.com, the Women on the Web.
