- During Professor Jennings' lecture on Milton, the word "Satan"
on the chalkboard moves from shot to shot. Watch for the "t" to be on the crease
in the blackboard, then to the left of it.
- In the cafeteria scene where Bluto is moving down the serving line, the
mirror above the food reflects the cameraman's feet walking along beside Bluto. You
can see them in the upper right of the screen just as Bluto is picking up the plate
of green Jello.
- In the scene where Pinto is inviting Clorette DePasto, the grocery
clerk, to the toga party, the cash register behind her is an older model like you
would find in 1962, but the cash register behind Pinto is a modern one.
- In the scene where Mandy and Babs are sitting on the bleachers, the year "62" is on
their cheerleading uniforms. Assuming they are seniors, since this is the fall of 1962,
they will graduate in the class of '63, not '62.
- In the golf/ROTC scene Otter and Boon walk up a hill to hit a few golf balls.
When they get to the top of the hill where they are going to tee off, Boon hands the golf bag
to Otter and takes out a driver. The film then cuts to the ROTC trainees. When we next see
the golfers, the bag is back on Boon's shoulder and there is no club out of the bag.
- In the scene in the Dean's office, where they cut up the horse, we see the reaction from
the secretary when the chainsaw is started up. If you look at the nameplate on the desk you
can see it is Christine Leonard, who was the University of Oregon president's secretary at the time.
- In toga party scenes, the mustard on Bluto's toga vanishes and reappears.
- Apparently they shot, but later cut, a scene in which Marion Wormer came back
downstairs and joined the party in a toga. We last see her being undressed and bedded by
Otter, then in the next scene in which Dean Wormer is on the phone with Mayor DePasto,
Marion is sticking her feet in her husband's face. If you look closely, you can see that
she is wearing a toga over the undergarments we last saw her in with Otter.
- Also, on Marion Wormer's nightstand is a photo of Elvis, but it's from his later,
rhinestone era, post 1968 (the film is set in the fall of 1962).
- The letters on the balcony change from Delta Tau Chi to Delta Chi Tau
and back again while a worker is removing the letters and the house is being gutted by the
authorities. In fact, the worker removes the letter Tau twice, once when it is on the right,
and again when it is in the center position.
- Set in 1962, the film features The Kingsmen's version of the song Louie Louie,
which wasn't released until late 1963. Also, Flounder's brothers' car is a 1964 Lincoln
Continental.
- At the end of the movie when the riot is taking place, Neidermeyer takes out a bullet
and fires upon Flounder from maybe ten feet away and misses - all the bullet does is shatter
the seltzer bottle and nothing else. In real life it would have done more than just
break the bottle - it would have hit a pedestrain or two running behind Flounder.
